Trust is the foundation of everything we do. Bringing someone into the life of someone you love is one of the most personal decisions a family can make. We take that seriously.

Background Checks

Every companion on Buddy has the option to complete a professional background check through Checkr, one of the most trusted screening providers in the United States. Background checked companions are clearly marked on their profile so families can make informed decisions with confidence.

We strongly encourage families to prioritise verified companions, particularly for in-home and overnight services.

Companion Verification

Every companion on Buddy must:

  • Create a verified account with a real name and contact information
  • Upload a current profile photo before appearing in search results
  • Complete a legal declaration confirming their eligibility to work as an independent companion
  • Agree to Buddy's Terms of Service and Companion Code of Conduct

Your Safety Comes First — For Companions

We know that companions occasionally encounter situations that feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Buddy's policy is clear: your safety always comes before the booking.

If you arrive at a booking and feel unsafe — due to the environment, the behaviour of those present, or any other reason — you are empowered to use your professional judgment and leave immediately. No companion should ever feel obligated to remain in a situation that compromises their safety or wellbeing.

If a family or household member makes a request that feels inappropriate, unsafe, or outside the agreed scope of care, decline immediately and report it to Buddy before cancelling the booking. Contacting us first ensures your cancellation is flagged as safety-related and will not count against your account standing or result in any financial penalty. You will not lose your earnings for a booking cancelled on genuine safety grounds.

We review every report and take appropriate action, up to and including permanent removal from the platform.

For Families

If you ever have a concern about a companion's behaviour or conduct, please report it to us immediately at support@buddycareapp.com. We take all reports seriously and will respond promptly.

Never feel obligated to allow a companion back into your home if something felt wrong. Your instincts matter. Contact us and we will work with you to find a resolution and arrange alternative care.

Messaging and Communication

All communication between families and companions should take place through the Buddy platform prior to a booking. This protects both parties and ensures there is a clear record of agreed services, times, and expectations.

How to Report a Concern

  • Email: support@buddycareapp.com
  • Through your dashboard: use the Report button on any booking or companion profile
  • Urgent safety concern: if you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 first

Buddy is committed to reviewing all reported concerns within 24 hours. Serious safety violations result in immediate account suspension pending investigation.
